How it works
Sentences are built by drawing random words from the classical Lorem Ipsum word list and capitalizing the first word. Sentence and paragraph output starts with the traditional “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.” opener, since that exact phrase is what most people expect to see first.
Why it looks like Latin but isn’t quite
The source passage comes from a first-century BC text by Cicero, scrambled by a 15th-century typesetter into something that reads as vaguely Latin without forming real sentences. That look is doubly useful: familiar enough not to be jarring, unreadable enough not to distract from layout.
When to use real content instead
Lorem Ipsum is for evaluating layout, type, and spacing before real copy exists. For anything checking line length against actual sentence structure, reading level, or content strategy, use representative real text instead.
